The Barbican Conservatory - The perfect London Wedding Venue

The Barbican conservatory is a utopia in the middle of the City of London. It is a favourite for many, as it combines nature and architecture. It’s creative and inspiring. A tropical backdrop in the middle of a bustling city.

London is bursting at the seams with amazing venues to celebrate your Wedding, but The Barbican Conservatory has fast become one of my favourite places to shoot. You may have noticed within my portfolio that I love botanicals. There’s something so rich and about having plants, trees and leaves to compliment your day. If you’re a lover of the outdoors and interesting architecture, with The Barbican Conservatory, there is no compromise. The juxtaposition of brutalist architecture and the shapes and curves of the plants make it such an interesting space to be in. The colours give such an earthy tone to the day and it is hugely calming to be in that space.

My advice to couples who are thinking about having their Wedding day at The Barbican Conservatory, is to ensure you allocate enough time in your schedule to enjoy the venue for photographs. It’s a vast space and there are so many areas inside and out to get some brilliant images. If you reframe it as time for the two of you connect, it feels like a lot less pressure on you too. Step out of the conservatory, get some fresh air and have a play in the architecture. When you come back in, we can wander around all the beautiful botanicals before you go back to your guests. A mix of candid photography and more considered imagery, will give you a gallery that will be so exciting to revisit.

I associate shot this day for a good photography friend of mine, Stephanie Green. Her client wanted to run with the tropical theme for their Wedding and I just love the pops of colour. It was a really warm summer’s day too, so it felt like a Destination Wedding. The conservatory served as a place for them to have informal reception drinks, followed by a meal on the top deck.

If you’re thinking of getting married at The Barbican, I’d love to be considered as your photographer.
